Bao Loc – Vung Tau
Distance: 195 kms
Bao Loc hasn’t got a lot of night life on offer so an early night is easy and that is my recommendation with a daybreak start.Â
The first 25 kms is semi urban and even early will have some traffic but we are rewarded thereafter with some of the best hotmix in the South.
(A) on the map is a photographers dream. The sunrise over these mountains and the colour in the red cliffs around this lake system are exceptional.
(B) There’s a great breakfast spot opposite the turnoff to this Da Mi Lake viewpoint.Â
(C) Is a memorial cross in memory of the 18 Australian and 245 Vietnamese soldiers killed In the August 1966 Battle of Long Tan.Â
There are many great accommodation options but our high end recommendation has harbour and sunset views.Â
Vung Tau, the city I choose to base myself, has over 500,000 residents but doesn’t feel that big. A clean city with a good year around climate and a lot to offer visitors. To date not particularly well marketed but I feel that will change with the development of the beach areas in progress and planned for the near future.
