Cat Lai – Cat Tien

Cat Lai – Cat Tien

1 Day - 160 Kms

Your destination, the Cat Tien National Park covers an area of 750 km² in the provinces of Dong Nai, Bình Phuoc and Lam Dong and preserves one of the largest areas of lowland tropical forests left in Vietnam. Easy to spend some time there if natural beauty in peace and quiet appeals as a nice change of pace.

Getting out of the biggest and busiest city in the country is made easier the earlier you get away. First light is my recommendation but if not before 7am wait until 10.

Over the Cat Lai Ferry and this map North is by far the best way I’ve been to avoid the traffic getting out of the city. The police are rather active in the first 10km or so from the ferry so watch your speed in that area.

Three unavoidable stretches on the main road but some interesting areas off it.

Interesting very local stalls and the relief the city is well behind you.

The newly laid hotmix either side of the dam wall later in the day the best of it.

(A) gets you around the usual police stop.

(B) just after the very short section of highway is a good Pho breakfast stop if away early. Plenty of choices around there.

(C) is just a pin to keep you off the main arterials

(D) is a water park you might like to check out for a swim or just a break.

(E & F) is a Dam Wall is a great photo stop. The lake one side and rice the other.

(G) is the second of the accommodation options or change to your chosen Cat Tien accommodation. There plenty of choice these days.3
