Instructions for use of sealed batteries
1. Putting the new battery into use:
* Check battery charge status:
The sealed dry battery is pre-charged when shipped from the factory, so it can be used immediately. During installation and use, be careful to avoid short circuiting the two terminals, which can cause the battery to explode or the battery to burn. Before putting it into use, check the voltage again:
If the battery voltage U 3 2.09V/single battery (equivalent to U 3 12.54V with 12V battery type) can be used immediately.
If the voltage is lower, additional charging with constant voltage is required (see section 2 – Battery charging).
During use, do not add distilled water or check the electrolyte density (do not open the secondary cap).
When the battery is discharged, if the voltage drops to 1.80V/cell (equivalent to U = 10.80V for a 12V battery), the discharge must be stopped and the battery must be recharged immediately to avoid the battery being starved for too long (see section 2).
2. Battery charging:
When the battery is fully discharged or not used for a long time, it must be recharged by:
Connect the positive terminal of the battery to the positive terminal of the charger, and the negative terminal of the battery to the negative terminal of the charger.
Continuous charging with voltage regulator U = 2.40V~2.50V (for 2V battery), U = 14.4~14.5V (for 12V battery). Maximum charging current must be less than 0.25 times the battery capacity value (see table below)
2V battery | Regular refills | Charging voltage | 2.25V¸2.35V |
Maximum charging current (A) | 0.25 capacity value written on the bottle
Cycle loading | Charging voltage | 2.40V¸2.50V
Maximum charging current (A) | 0.25 capacity value written on the bottle
12V battery | Regular refills | Charging voltage | 13.5V¸13.8V |
Maximum charging current (A) | 0.25 capacity value written on the bottle
Cycle loading | Charging voltage | 14.40V¸15.00V
Maximum charging current (A) | 0.25 capacity value written on the bottle |
3. Battery storage and preservation:
* New sealed dry batteries, if not used, must be stored in a cool, dry place. Avoid short circuits because they are already electrically charged.
During storage, the battery needs to be periodically recharged according to the following schedule:
- Once every 18 months if the storage temperature is 20 0 C
- Once every 12 months if the storage temperature is 30 0 C
- Once every 9 months if the storage temperature is 40 0 C
* Sealed dry batteries in use, if temporarily not in use, must be cleaned and stored in a cool, dry place. Periodically recharge as described in sections 2 and 3.
