Ta Xua – Nghia Lo
Distance: 110 kms
Don’t let some of the photo’s added to this ride day put you off. It was to say the least challenging on bigger bikes early days. Since then though although the steep inclines and declines haven’t changed the surface is much better and the road wider.
(A) Your first stop, before you check out for the dawn done correctly, is the Dragon Spine. Often clouded in but if clear a spectacular view point. Also a great ride but not for everyone. The Spine near the end less than a foot wide and a sheer drop both sides.
No shortage of billy coffee or tea and these delicious pork skewers straight off the coals. A breakfast among many other experiences that makes this one of my favourite places in Vietnam.
(B) and (C) are particularly nice viewpoints but its stunning through most of the day.
(D) Is a viewpoint at pretty much the end of the more challenging part of the ride.
Still nicely matched to an XR 150 but a CB 500X even two up is very doable now for experienced riders. Though a very short ride day it will be slow in places with a plethora of photo opportunities so you’ll have no problem filling the day in.
(E) is an good alternate accommodation I found but am yet to stay there. Gets very good reviews.
(F) I stayed here some years back and have ever since. Its a great spot with an infinity pool but not cheap and there are many options in the area these days so worth a bookings search.
